lung cancer Risk Factors
There is no sure way to know if you're going to get lung cancer. Certain factors can make you more likely to get lung cancer than another person. Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, with nearly 90 percent of lung cancers thought to be a result of smoking. Additional risk factors include:
secondhand smoke
smoking marijuana cigarettes
recurring inflammation, such as from tuberculosis or pneumonia
Not smoking, or stopping if you do smoke, is the best way to protect yourself from lung cancer. To find out more about getting help to quit smoking, click here.
