Gary S. Lehr, MD, is a board certified general surgeon. He is immediate past Chief of Staff at North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach.

Dr. Lehr earned his undergraduate degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude, from Union College in Schenectady, New York. He received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine, where he graduated with Distinction.

Dr. Lehr completed his internship and residency in surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he also served as chief surgical resident.

Dr. Lehr established his medical practice in Fort Lauderdale in 1993. Since 1996, he has been a practicing partner with East Broward Surgical Associates in Deerfield Beach.

In addition to recently serving two years as Chief of Staff, he previously served as Vice Chief of Staff, as well as Secretary/Treasurer of the Medical Staff. He is a member of the medical council executive committee, and has also been a member of the surgical review committee, medical review committee and the cancer committee.

Dr. Lehr is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Fort Lauderdale Surgical Society, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Lehr treats patients with a variety of cancer types, including breast, thyroid, stomach, skin, colon and rectal cancers.

The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS) is a non-profit, multidisciplinary and multispecialty educational organization established to provide an open forum for surgeons and other health professionals interested in laparoscopic, endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery. He trains surgeons from around the country in endoscopic hernia repairs at North Broward Medical Center.
