“Cut smoking out and you cut out most lung cancers.”
Lung cancer is among the deadliest of all cancers, but it is also among the most preventable. About 90% of lung cancer deaths in men and almost 80% of lung cancer deaths in women are due to smoking, according to the CDC.
Caught early, even lung cancer can be stabilized, thanks to new drug therapies. Survival rests on prevention and early detection. “Prevention is number one and then early detection is number two,” says Dr. Faig.
